Makeup for exercise

January 31st, 2016BlogNo Comments »

I’m not really a makeup person – ask any of my friends and they will tell you I’m useless! Contouring – ain’t nobody got time for that! Winged eyeliner – impossible. Lip liner – does a chapstick count?, but I do like to put on a little something even when I’m exercising.

My skin is pretty good – I have a few scars on my cheeks and some slight pigmentation, but in terms of pimples, I’m pretty much clear. I wear makeup because I simply don’t feel ‘done’ without it, and because I’m usually running straight from a class to lunch or a meeting so I need to look semi-presentable.

I’ve done the rounds and used pretty much every makeup under the sun, but I’ve finally stumbled on one that I’ve stuck with.

Jane Iredale Makeup

Introducing Jane Iredale’s full coverage mineral BB cream. It’s light but provides great coverage and a lovely dewy finish. I often get asked what makeup I use because I have a lovely ‘glow’ (haha!).

A few key points on the product that I love:

It’s Non-comedogenic

This basically means it doesn’t block your pores. It forms a protective barrier on the skin that allows it to breathe and function normally.

It offers Sun Protection
The product contains broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 25 UVB/UVA. For someone that’s out in the sun quite a bit this is great news!

It’s Water resistant

The product is Water resistant to 40 minutes. This is why its great for exercising. Sweating? No worries!

Me with makeup on

For application I simply dot the product around my face and work it in with a makeup brush (make sure you clean your brush regularly). If I have time, I finish off with a sweep of blush and quickly pencil in my brows. If I’m going somewhere (like dinner) I will highlight under my eyes and sweep on some eyeshadow. I have eyelash extensions so this means no mascara (winning!).

What are your thoughts on wearing makeup to exercise? Do you have any favourites?
